Muji stores are always more fun to visit in Japan, chiefly for the extensive selection of food on offer. We picked up these Muji Matcha Chocolate Coated Strawberry during one of our sessions of browsing.

Each bag contained around seven pieces (three large and four small).

Each strawberry is freeze-dried and enrobed in a 5 mm thick layer of matcha chocolate that’s smooth and shiny.

These strawberries have a sweet matcha aroma with no hint of the strawberry within. Biting into the strawberry, the matcha chocolate shell is hard, shiny and smooth, with the 5 mm thickness providing ample time to bite into the chocolate and release its sweet and mellow matcha flavour before reaching the freeze-dried strawberry that provides a contrasting punchy acidity and an audible crunch. The punchiness and crunchiness of the freeze-dried strawberries keep us returning for more, while the chocolate keeps the acidity manageable.
This Muji Matcha Chocolate Coated Strawberry contained 50 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Ōsaka, Japan in 2018.
