Japan has a gummy selection with flavours and shapes that are unlike anything we can find in Australia. Most of them have added collagen and Vitamin C, like this Kanro Puré Gummy Pink Grapefruit.
Each gummy is a rounded heart shape, a pale salmon pink colour, and about 3 x 2.5 x 0.5 cm in size, with a refreshing and sweet grapefruit scent.
Biting into it, the sour crystals coating the gummy are a surprising jolt to the taste buds before the teeth sink into the sweet centre of the gummy. The sweetness takes a few seconds to came through as it melts on the tongue and releases a delightfully fresh and bright pink grapefruit flavour that reminds of the juicy flesh of the fruit. The texture of the gummy is very chewy and without the bounce that characterises Haribo Gold Bears. That said, the intense chewiness and the thinness of each gummy with its rich grapefruit flavour mean we neither miss the bouncy texture nor find it off-putting as in the Haribo Fruitmania series.
