Hokkaidō Prefecture, known for its dry climate and volcanic ash-based soil, is known for the Yubari melon. Grown in the town of Yubari in Hokkaidō, the Yubari melon is celebrated as the finest melon in Japan, characterized by its melt-in-the-mouth soft flesh, intense sweetness, and deep flavour.
This is the Nippon Yell Gummy Hokkaidō Yubari Melon, which uses the juice of these melon.
Each gummy was an opaque orange hue, approximately 2 cm in diameter and 1 cm in height, emanating a fragrant melon aroma. Upon tasting, the fine sugar dusting on the gummy’s exterior provided a gentle sweet crunch, followed by the experience of the firm and bouncy al dente texture of the gummy itself. The gummy exterior introduced a subtle melon sweetness, paving the way for the jelly-like centre to unveil the luxurious and luscious flavour of the melon. The centre carried a hint of balancing natural acidity, encapsulating the flavour of the fruit’s soft flesh. Consumed as a whole, the centre’s robust flavour harmonized with the more subtly flavoured gummy exterior, and subsequent bites allowed the depth of juiciness to unfold. These gummies masterfully captured the authentic flavour and texture of Yubari Melons.
