UHA Mikakutō Mitsuboshi Strawberry Skyberry Gumi

This is the UHA Mikakutō Mitsuboshi Strawberry Skyberry, made with juice from Skyberry strawberries grown in Tochigi Prefecture. Developed in 2014, Skyberry strawberries are named for their large size, beauty, and exceptional flavour—’reaching the sky’. These strawberries can weigh around 60 g, often surpassing the size of a chicken egg.

Each gummy was opaque red, shaped like a strawberry, and measured approximately 2.5 x 1.5 x 1 cm at its widest points. It emitted a rich, sweet strawberry aroma. On tasting, the gummies had a satisfying chew, with a softness rating of about 3 out of 5 on Meiji’s gummy scale—soft, yet with an addictive elasticity. The strawberry flavour was immediately noticeable from the first bite, beginning with a rich sweetness. As one chewed, the juiciness intensified, with a notable acidity balancing the sweetness and adding freshness, preventing it from becoming overly jammy.

Compared to the Nippon Yell Gummy Tochigi Skyberry, this version highlighted the juiciness in the sweet strawberry flavour, whereas the other focused more on the depth of the sweetness, even with its sour crystal coating. Both were delicious, delivering a rich strawberry flavour and enjoyable texture, making them well worth repurchasing.

This UHA Mikakutō Mitsuboshi Strawberry Skyberry contained 40 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
