This is the Philippine Brand Dried Guava Balls, made with red guava and sugar, with only a preservative and stabiliser added.
Each bag contained 20 individually wrapped pieces. Each ball was spherical, 2 cm in diameter, with a dark red–brown hue and a pronounced musky sweetness on the nose that was not especially inviting.
On tasting, the surface carried a roughness from the sugar crystals before giving way easily to the interior, which was uniform in both texture and flavour. The red guava profile emerged immediately, offering those familiar tropical notes that sit somewhere between banana and strawberry. The sugar crystals added a light crunch that played against the subtle graininess of the guava purée. Although sticky to handle and chewy in structure, the piece did not cling to one’s teeth and concluded with a clean aftertaste, with the musky aroma largely suppressed once the guava flavour took hold.
Overall, the combination of gentle chew, clear guava character, and the balancing crunch of sugar made this a straightforward yet satisfying confection.
