Lupicia Hua Ki

This is the Lupicia Hua Ki, part of a series of five teas available exclusively from Lupicia’s Hawaii store.

This tropical fruit-flavoured black tea blend featured dried pieces of papaya, cranberry, mango, apple, pineapple, blue mallow, and strawberry leaf.

Steeping 3 g of loose-leaf tea in 200 mL of water at 85ºC for 2.5 minutes, produced a transparent red-brown hue with a fruity tropical aroma over a distinct black tea base. The flavours of pineapple and mango emerged at the start of each sip, followed by a more mellow fruity sweetness as the black tea flavour took over, reminiscent of apple-flavoured black tea. Mid-sip, cranberry added a sweet-sour, gently sharp note, akin to a Sato Nishiki cherry. The black tea served as a fruity, sweet foundation for the blend, with no bitterness and only a light astringency in the finish. The tropical notes made this tea enjoyable when hot, but it was even better suited for cold-brewed iced tea.

This Lupicia Hua Ki contained 50 g. The tea was sourced from India, packaged in Japan, and received as a gift from family visiting the United States in 2024.
