Nissin Koikeya Foods Potato Chips Cup Noodles Spicy Seafood Flavour

These Nissin Koikeya Foods Potato Chips Cup Noodles Spicy Seafood Flavour are part of a series created as a joint venture between Nissins Foods in China/Hong Kong and Kokeiya in Japan. Their sesame oil flavour was inspired by the original spicy seafood flavour of Cup Noodles that are widely eaten in Hong Kong.

The chips were a crinkle cut but with miniature waves compared to those available in Western supermarkets. This smaller wave gave them less crunch but more surface area for the seasoning, which came through as a strong MSG aroma initially. Upon tasting, the flavour of the MSG hit the palate first before the ocean seafood flavour emerged in the body ahead of a moderate burn from the ‘spicy’ aspect. The spiciness built on subsequent chips to the extent of overwhelming the seafood flavour. These were rather passable potato chips.

This Nissin Koikeya Foods Potato Chips Cup Noodles Spicy Seafood Flavour contained 50 g. It was produced in Hong Kong and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2022.
