This Sargents Premium Selection Sous Vide Slow Cooked Massaman Beef is from the same ‘Premium Selection’ series as plain beef version.
Massamam beef is one of the mildest curries often found on a menu at Thai restaurants, with typical ‘five spice’ flavours combining with more local Thai flavours such as ‘dried chilli, cilantro seeds, lemongrass, galangal, white pepper, shrimp paste, shallots and garlic’ to make massaman curry paste. This pie contained 20% slow cooked beef, as well as 7% potato and 6% beef mince.

We cook ours in the airfryer preheated to 180°C for 30 minutes until golden brown.

Cutting through, the pie has a sweet, spiced aroma that recalled the curry itself with generous chunks of slow cooked beef. Upon tasting, the flavour of the pie recalled a more savoury version of the curry puff at Albee’s Kitchen or Albee’s Secret Recipe with its similar soft texture and spiced flavour yet without the overwhelming sweetness of some Massaman curries we’ve tried from Thai restaurants. We’d return for this pie.
This Sargents Premium Selection Sous Vide Slow Cooked Massaman Beef contained 400 g or 2 pies. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2019.
