This is the Shuang Yeh Foods A-Chino Mango Pomelo & Sago Ice Cream Bar.

It consisted of a dairy-free coconut milk-based ice cream with bits of pomelo flesh and mango purée throughout and covered in a mango-flavoured coating.

The coating gave a crisp outer shell that delivered a bright mango flavour with the characteristic richness of Thai, rather than the lighter notes of Australian, mangoes. Biting through, the coconut milk-based ice cream gave a contrasting creamy thickness with a notable coconut flavour but without dominating. The coconut ice cream had a restrained sweetness that allowed the flecks of pomelo flesh to cut through with pops of citrus for a subtle hint of bitterness and the mango purée to deliver a deeper tropical sweetness. While the sago did not add its own flavour, it brought a very welcome hint of chewy texture.
Overall, these were very delicious ice creams that improved upon Weis Mango Bars, and with a flavour that sat somewhere between the traditional Cantonese dessert and the drink inspired by the same from Gong Cha. We’d happily repurchase these.
