Lupicia Kuuipo

This is Lupicia Kuuipo, one of five teas available exclusively from Lupicia’s Hawaii store.

It is a loose-leaf black tea blend infused with guava and mixed with hibiscus, rose petals, dried mango, and dried papaya.

Steeping 3 g of the tea in 200 mL of water at 85ºC for 2.5 minutes produced a deep red-brown brew with a sweet-tart guava aroma and tropical hints layered over the black tea base. Whether consumed hot or chilled, the guava notes were prominent from the first sip, with flavours reminiscent of a blend between pineapple and strawberry. Hibiscus added a subtle tartness, while rose petals imparted a soft floral touch that enhanced the tropical guava without overpowering it. Mid-sip, the black tea took centre stage, providing a fruity depth and carrying the flavour into the finish with little astringency or bitterness. Cold brewing brought out the tropical fruit notes even more delicately. Overall, the sweet-tart guava in this flavoured black tea made it a unique and memorable offering from Lupicia, well worth repurchasing.

This Lupicia Kuuipo contained 50 g. The tea was sourced from India, Kenya and Vietnam, packaged in Japan and received as a gift from family visiting the United States in 2024.
