Dosa Hut, Harris Park

Dosa Hut is a popular destination for authentic South Indian cuisine. There is no shortage of their restaurants around Australia and we make a visit for takeaway from their store in Harris Park.

This is the Nilgiri Vegetable Korma ($15.00.95). We enjoy the mint and coriander coconut milk-based gravy, which gave the curry a creamy and buttery flavour that is refreshing and brought the frozen vegetables — corn, peas and carrots — together well with the cubes of paneer (an unsalted white Indian cheese). The overall flavour recalled the Pudina Chicken from Monty’s Pizza, but vastly richer and more complex.

This is the Butter Chicken ($16.00.95). The curry delivered a rich tomato flavour with a healthy dose of heat and generosity of spice but is less buttery and sweet than we’d come to enjoy. The chunks of tandoori chicken add a welcome smokiness to the curry.

This is half of the full Tandoori Chicken ($19.00.95). Unfortunately, the chicken was very dry, although we did enjoy the healthy level of heat from the spices and its general smoky flavour.

Finally, we mopped up our curries with Plain Naan ($3.00 each), which were enjoyable and did the job well.

Even with our limited experience with Indian food, but the depth and complexity of flavour in the curries at Dosa Hut do make it above the rest.

Dosa Hut is located at 69 Wigram St, Harris Park NSW 2150.
