This is the Lupicia Passion Fruit Oolong.

The tea is a looseleaf Taiwanese oolong scented with passionfruit flavour and blended with safflower and marigold petals.

Steeping 3 g of looseleaf in 200 mL of water at 85°C for 3 minutes, the tea was a clear golden-green colour with a sweet aroma of passionfruit. Served chilled, a  gentle sweetness from the oolong came through at the head of each sip before giving way to the notes of passionfruit in the body, which captured the quintessential tropical, slightly floral quality of its flavour without overt sweetness or tartness, before a minor astringency finishes the sip and lingered in the aftertaste.

It is quite remarkable that they’ve captured the flavour of passionfruit — even if artificial — without relying on its tangy sweetness, yet makes for a refreshing and easily enjoyed beverage for summer. Some passionfruit pulp would add a bolder passionfruit flavour with some texture.

This Lupicia Passion Fruit Oolong contained 50 g. It was sourced from Taiwan, packaged in Japan, and purchased in Australia in 2021.
