This is the Mango Pomelo Honey Jelly ($9.50, fixed size (large), less ice (minimum level), 70% sweetness (minimum level)) from Coco Fresh Tea & Juice. It consisted of fresh mango and red grapefruit pulp with sago and honey jelly in a milk base.
Consumed chilled, the drink had an incredibly thick mouthfeel that was more suited to being eaten in a bowl with a spoon much like the Hong Kong dessert from which the drink was inspired. However, with extra suction in each sip, it did work as a drink as effort had been put into dicing up the mango and breaking up the red grapefruit pulp. The mango flavour was soft, ripe and fresh while the red grapefruit pulp gave a gentle acidity with the barest hint of bitterness. The sago delivered an enjoyable chew, while the honey jelly brought a crisp sweetness that was separate from the creamy sweetness of the drink.
This version was distinct from the Milk Flower Signature Mango Coconut Sago and Gong Cha Mango Pomelo Drink as it did not feature coconut milk. The version from Milk Flower has a similarly thick mouthfeel yet bitier mango cubes, while the version from Gong Cha had a thinner more drinkable mouthfeel with fewer toppings. The price points of these drinks reflected the commitment to authenticity and the quality of ingredients used, with the flavour of the Milk Flower version being closest to the original dessert and suitable as a meal replacement, and the thinner consistency of the Gong Cha version being most suited to being a drink.
