This T2 White Jasmine is one of our favourite white teas and jasmine-scented teas.
The tea is looseleaf of silver needle white tea scented with jasmine. Silver needle is the highest-grade in the white tea family, made from plump and straight needle-like buds with white tips covered in a fine white downy hair to give them a silvery tone.
Along with blooming teas, Silver Needle is a tea that benefits from being brewed in a clear glass teapot or cup to make the most of seeing the leaves floating and dancing through the water.
Steeping 3 g of looseleaf in 200 mL of water at 80°C for 3 minutes, the infusion was a clear pale yellow colour with a delicate and fresh floral aroma. Served hot, the notes of jasmine came through bright and fresh with a gentle sugarcane sweetness before mellowing with a light earthiness towards the finish. The flavour was refined and refreshing — even compared to the T2 Snow Dragon — and conjures the aroma of jasmine in full bloom on a crisp dewy morning. It’s truly exquisite.
This T2 White Jasmine contained 50 g. It was packed in Poland and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
