After the spaghetti from Burger Point tickled my fancy for Filipino-style spaghetti, we picked up the Del Monte Filipino Style Spaghetti Sauce to get a taste for it at home without having to immediately commit to a recipe.

Prepared with a pork and beef mince blend and chopped hot dogs, the sauce had a rich tomato flavour with a more pronounced sweetness and more restrained acidity than our usual favourite Dolmio Red Wine and Herbs. However, a lot of sauce was required to get that same bold flavour with every bite, and despite the promises of being ‘meaty and cheesy’, it did not deliver in either aspect without additional ingredients to the sauce. While the overall flavour was enjoyable, the food colouring in the sauce coloured the mince a pink colour other after being left in the fridge for a day or two, and while likely not harmful, was rather unnecessary to make this sauce a staple base for a regular meal..
This Del Monte Filipino Style Spaghetti Sauce contained 1 kg. It was produced in The Philippines and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2022.
