Following on from the original, this is the Darrell Lea Milk Chocolate Rocklea Road Christmas Recipe.

It’s ‘made with fluffy marshmallow and coconut (32%), peanuts (6%) and Christmas Liquorice pieces (10%), smothered in Darrell milk chocolate (49%).’ The Christmas Liquorice pieces are apple and raspberry flavoured soft eating liquorice. They’re cylindrical in shape much like their usual soft eating liquorice and replace 9% of the milk chocolate in the original.

The addition of the apple and raspberry soft eating liquorice gave the rocky road a fruitiness that’s more welcome than the traditional glace cherries and recalled the Cadbury Dairy Milk Black Forest with the added crunch of peanuts and softness of marshmallows. Despite replacing 9% of the milk chocolate from the original, the chocolate dominates, with the flavour of the fruity bits being chiefly sweet and textural as it’s difficult to distinguish as being apple and raspberry flavoured unless singled out especially. We prefer that, though, as it gave the rocky road a more familiar fruitiness.
