This Nin Jiom Herbal Candy Ume Plum follows on from the previous flavours of lemongrass and apple-longan.

Each tin contained 24 candies individually wrapped in purple paper.

Each candy was 1.5 cm in diameter and 0.5 cm in height with an opaque brown colour and salty plum aroma that recalled herbal medicine and was certainly an acquired taste. Upon tasting, though, the flavour was much subdued without prominent savoury notes. The candy melted slowly with the muddled and smoky sweetness of a Chinese or Taiwanese wumei with a gentle acidity in the background and without the signature cooling herbal qualities of other flavours in the range. These candies captured the flavour of smoked plums remarkably well, which was in stark contrast to the more accessible crisply sweet tanginess of Japanese ume or Korean maesil.
This Nin Jiom Herbal Candy Ume contained 60 g or 24 pieces. It was produced in Thailand and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2022.
