This is the Rose & Lychee Tea Latte ($8.90; 30% ice, 50% sugar) from TopTea, featuring a lychee- and rose-scented oolong tea latte topped with milk foam and rose petals. It was a limited-edition release for Qixi (Chinese Festival of Love) in 2026.
The beverage presented with an opaque light-tan hue, topped with a thick layer of white milk foam and pink rose petals.
Initial contact delivered immediate tropical lychee, with its sweet floral character carried by underlying fruity notes from the dark-roast oolong base. Sweetness was balanced at 50%, with the bright lychee character remaining prominent through the mid-palate alongside a smooth milk base that contributed a velvety mouthfeel without becoming overtly milky.
Towards the finish, rose notes came to prominence, heightening the floral character already present in the lychee and extending it into the aftertaste. The milk foam contributed further creaminess as it integrated with the tea latte, while the oolong remained sufficiently present beneath the floral flavours to prevent the beverage from becoming solely fruit- or rose-driven.
The combination of lychee, rose and oolong created a creamy, floral and sweet profile, with the use of real rose aroma giving the floral component greater definition. The drink could have been elevated further with actual lychee flesh to provide a more pronounced fruit texture and a less purely aromatic expression of lychee.
Overall, a tea latte with a layered flavour trajectory and progressive textural integration, resulting in a cohesive floral-fruit structure with the lychee leading and rose emerging towards the finish.
This Rose & Lychee Tea Latte was purchased from TopTea in Sydney, Australia in August 2026.
